Home school families enrolling in Odyssey Academy may choose three different options when enrolling in Odyssey Academy. (1) The  internet-based remote access distance learning option, which utilizes the most current version of Alpha Omega Publications' award-winning Switched-On-Schoolhouse, is available for grades 3-12, or (2) The brand-new Switched-On Online, a fully online distance learning program requiring no software installation for grades 3-12, or  (3) The traditional mail correspondence option, available for grades K-8, implementing primarily the LIFEPAC or Horizons curriculum.

Customized Academic Placement
Odyssey Academy offers a unique opportunity for each parent or teacher responsible for the educational success of their students. As a doctor must diagnose a patient’s physical needs before prescribing proper treatment, likewise a student’s academic needs must be diagnosed before the correct curriculum can be prescribed. Professional diagnostic testing will determine your student’s skill level and concept mastery in each subject. If specific weak areas are evident from the testing, the appropriate curriculum level will be prescribed. In addition, learning gaps can be identified and prescribed, so your child masters important concepts before moving on. A professional academic placement will put your student on the road to scholastic success.

Multi-Media for Multi-Sensory Learning
The state of the art Switched-On Schoolhouse electronic curriculum produced by Alpha Omega Publications features an exciting, visually-rich multimedia environment and state-of the art graphics. View live historical footage of the shores of Normandy during World War II, or watch an experiment on static electricity. Your student’s learning truly becomes a “learning odyssey” through the optional pre-linked websites, which expand learning outside of the written curriculum. While the computer is a central tool for learning, additional hands-on activities are offered to reinforce analytical reasoning skills.

Daily Teacher Availability and Academic Support
In the On-Line Academy, your students will complete their schoolwork right at home and submit it to our qualified teachers through either Internet synchronization, or real-time through online access each day. Our teachers will grade the work, return it, offer personalized academic assistance, and monitor your students’ work. They personally review all subjective problems and reports, address student questions and concerns, and comment on student work. An internal e-mail messaging system is built right into the curriculum, so that students and teachers can easily communicate daily. 

Professional Records and Transcripts
The Academy upholds standards of grading and record-keeping that will provide your student with official transcripts and permanent records. The course of study is recommended by the Academy, and the academic staff completes all the grading. Students earn credits toward graduation, and each earns an accredited high school diploma upon successful completion of the program prescribed. Odyssey Academy is accredited and in excellent standing with
the National Association of Private Schools.

Focused Learning with an Emphasis on Mastery
The software coaches students through the entire curriculum, while guiding their rate of progress. Parents and teachers can easily gauge when students have grasped lesson concepts. The program will allow them to proceed with the course when the  set mastery level is attained. As a result, you have assurance that your student has mastered each concept before moving on to the next.

On-Line Payment Plans: 
Course Tuition Fees may be paid either in full, quarterly, or monthly. Authorization is required for deferred payments to be paid through automatic credit card charges according to the cardholder's requested payment schedule.  A nine-month commitment is required.

Withdrawal and Cancellation Policy: 
Any request for withdrawal must be made in writing and transmitted by USPS, fax or e-mail. Registration fees are non-refundable. Tuition refunds are available up to 60 days after shipment of curriculum or online access. The refund is available upon return of the software and paper curriculum LESS graded units and a $75 cancellation fee. No refunds are allowed after 60 days. Credit will not be given for curriculum returned after 60 days. Materials accepted for return must be in new condition. Items damaged in shipping or showing signs of handling are not accepted for return or credit. 

Note: The Academy reserves the right to cancel a student's enrollment at any time for non-payment of fees, unsatisfactory progress, inadequate record-keeping, failure to submit work on a regular basis, obvious student cheating, or plagiarism. Once a student is dismissed, reinstatement is considered only upon application to, and approval by, the administration of Odyssey Academy. If reinstatement is allowed, tuition fees must be brought current, and a fee of $50.00 will be assessed. 

Shipping Information: 
Academy materials are shipped "Best Way," meaning the Shipping Department will determine the most economical shipping mode. This will usually be regular UPS ground (Street Address required). Upon request, shipments may be made by UPS 2-Day Air at the expense of the customer.  An additional $25 charge is added to tuition for expedited domestic shipments.   International shipping costs will vary.

  1. Complete the application and print a copy for your records.   Click on the "Submit" button and your application will immediately be sent to Odyssey Academy
  2. To submit credit card information, click here to complete the Odyssey Academy Payment Transmittal Form. (The Payment Transmittal Form must be received before your application can be processed.)  Fax the form to:  503-585-0074 or mail to:  Odyssey Academy, 10272 Liberty Rd. S., Salem, OR  97306.
  3. You will receive a "Welcome" e-mail detailing specific policies.
  4. If your student requires placement testing, upon receipt of your registration payment, your student will receive log-in information to the Odyssey Academy On-Line Placement Testing.   
  5. Provide a quiet environment for your child to concentrate. Upon completion,  send an e-mail to:  registrar@odysseyacademy.com to inform our counselors that your student has finished the placement test.
  6. Upon receipt, your academic counselor will review your student’s permanent records and evaluate the placement test results. A course of study will be prescribed to meet your child’s individual need.
  7. If you have chosen to use Switched-On Online, our fully web-based online program, you will receive an e-mail which will provide login information.  If you've chosen Switched-On Schoolhouse with either Remote Access or Synchronization, the SOS Distance Learning Application CD and Curriculum CDs will be shipped directly to your door.  Installation instructions for the Switched-On Schoolhouse distance learning software will be sent both by e-mail and with your shipment.
  8. Log-in to Switched-On Online or install the Switched-On Schoolhouse application CD and curriculum CDs per the DL Quick Set Instructions. 
  9. Your student’s “odyssey of learning” begins!

Shipments are sent Priority Mail to Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. Protectorates, and APO and FPO addresses.  International and expedited domestic shipping costs will vary.

Note: Shipments to other countries are made only to APO and FPO addresses or to a stateside contact. Families in Canada, Mexico, and overseas who desire Academy enrollment are encouraged to register with our online option, where shipping costs are less, and grading and communication is more immediate via the internet.
